Tips for mosquito nuisance

When we can finally enjoy nice summer weather, those pesky mosquitoes appear. Especially with high temperatures and high humidity, we see the number of mosquitoes increase significantly. Fortunately, you can prevent, repel and catch mosquitoes in your garden and home with a few simple steps.

Mosquito prevention - larvae control

Mosquitoes prefer to lay their eggs in stagnant water or damp places. In the house, this could be the crawl space, the cellar or the shed, for example. In the garden, you can think of places like ponds, gutters and flower pots that have a layer of water in them. A female mosquito can lay about 200 eggs every 3 to 4 days. A few days later, larvae hatch from these eggs, which again hatch into a mosquito after a few days (depending on the temperature). So the number of mosquitoes can increase very quickly.

To counter this rapid increase in mosquitoes and prevent mosquito nuisance, it is best to avoid stagnant water. Think about keeping your gutters clean and emptying flower pots that have a layer of water in them. For ponds and other forms of standing water in and around the house, you can apply a special spray. For example, use Knock Pest Mosquito Larvae Stop. This spray forms a layer on the water, which prevents the development of larvae and pupae, without having a negative effect on other animals living in the water. The spray is free of insecticides and is effective for up to 4 weeks. With it, you tackle mosquito nuisance at the source.

Repel mosquitoes - keep mosquitoes at bay

Notice that you still cannot sit comfortably in the garden or are kept awake at night by the buzzing? Then keep the mosquitoes at bay by lighting a fire pit or burning incense in the garden, for example. At home, you can use a fan or apply a protective agent to your skin.

Do these measures not work or do you find them not user-friendly? Then a mosquito repeller is a good option. This is a device that emits ultrasonic signals to chase away mosquitoes. Just plug it into the socket, choose the desired signal setting and the device does its job. Ideal for in the house or under a canopy in the garden. The signal covers up to 30 m2.

Catching mosquitoes - effectively removing mosquitoes

The last solution is to catch mosquitoes using a mosquito lamp. These lamps can be used both outdoors and indoors. The Knock Pest Mosquito Magnet 7 Watt or Mosquito Magnet Plus attract mosquitoes thanks to special ultraviolet light and a human CO2 scent. As soon as the mosquito approaches the lamp, it is sucked in and captured alive in the reservoir. Should the effect of the mosquito lamp diminish, new mosquito bait can be inserted into the lamp. This lure is effective for about 45 days.
