KerbEX Rot is a registered* repellent with long-lasting and highly effective action against horseflies and houseflies, thanks to its unique formula.
The formula of KerbEX Rot
The formula consists of the active ingredient icaridin, garlic and natural oils of tea tree, carnation, lemon and eucalyptus. The substances, together with stabilisers, are brought together in very small 'spheres', which are not visible to the naked eye. Once applied to the horse, the spheres burst open and the product is released onto the horse's coat and skin. It adheres well to the coat and KerbEX Rot thus greatly reduces the nuisance of horseflies and houseflies. The garlic and natural oils have a skin-conditioning effect and also create an odour mask around the horse to neutralise the natural (sweat) smell.
For best results, KerbEX Rot is used from spring onwards in sultry and relatively warm weather, as this is when horseflies and houseflies become active.
Application advice
The advice for applying KerbEX Rot is:
- apply daily for the first week
- apply every 2 days during the second week
- thereafter apply every 3 days
Tip: take good care to include the coronary band during application so that the horseflies do not run up via the legs.
With this advice, the active ingredient has built up so much on the skin and coat that the horse is protected very long-lastingly and effectively. There is then no need to spray the horse again before an outdoor ride. If the horse is washed with shampoo, KerbEX Rot should be used daily for at least a week. When rinsing with water only, this is not necessary, although it is important to keep an eye on whether the horse is bothered by horseflies or houseflies. If this is the case, KerbEX Rot should be used again. In heavy and prolonged rain, application of KerbEX Rot once a day is recommended, but is not necessary in light rain.
Should the horse still suffer from horseflies or houseflies when the advice is followed, KerbEX Rot can be applied more frequently, with a maximum of once daily. By monitoring the horse, each user can determine the optimal interval between treatments for effective protection.
